MapMyLot Pro's Shortlist Builder finds land parcels that match your size, frontage and available constraint filters within a suburb or radius. It helps you investigate candidate blocks, including land that is not advertised for sale. Confirm availability with the owner or agent after checking the parcel.

How it works

Search any address to anchor the search area, then open "Search nearby" to reveal the filter row. Set a land-area range, and turn on any of the constraint and proximity filters that matter - unconstrained (buildable) area, frontage width, distance to the coast, a park, a named waterway or water body, powerline setback, or excluding lots affected by flood zones or easements. Tap Show matches and every parcel that fits is highlighted on the map together.

Results paint directly onto the map as a highlighted set, with the view fitted to show them all - so you can see where the matching land actually sits relative to the suburb, roads, and coastline, not just a list of addresses with no spatial context.

A worked example

Looking for a block over 500 m² within a suburb, with at least 10 m of frontage, and not affected by an easement? Set the land-area minimum, turn on the frontage filter at 10 m, turn on the easements exclusion, and run the search - the map highlights only parcels that satisfy all three at once, instead of checking each candidate address individually.

Exporting a shortlist

Once a filter returns matches, Export CSV downloads the full result set for further review, sharing with a client, or importing into another tool - useful for anyone screening multiple candidate blocks rather than a single property.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Shortlist Builder different from a normal address search?

A normal MapMyLot search checks one property you already know the address of. The Shortlist Builder does the opposite: it searches every parcel across a suburb or a radius you choose, filters them by the criteria you set, and shows every match at once on the map - useful when you're looking for land, not checking a specific address.

What can I filter by?

Land area range, unconstrained (buildable) area, frontage width, distance to the coast, distance to a park or its size, distance to a named waterway or water body, powerline setback distance, and exclusion of lots affected by flood zones or easements where that data is dense enough to filter on reliably.

Can I export the results?

Yes. Once a filter returns matches, an Export CSV button downloads the full result set (parcel ID, address where available, area, and the filtered attributes) for further review or sharing - a Pro feature, like the filter itself.

Is the shortlist result capped?

Yes, results are capped at 5,000 matching lots per search to keep the map and export responsive. In practice this only matters for very broad filters (a whole large suburb with no narrowing criteria) - adding a size, frontage, or exclusion filter typically narrows well under the cap.
